Description
The RPG genre was never really considered a mainstream or popular genre -- that is, until the release of Final Fantasy VII on PlayStation. With Final Fantsy VII's historic release on PlayStation in June of 1997, role-playing games were finally given the respect that they deserved and the RPG genre is now one of the most significant and defining on the system. Following the story of Cloud Strife, gamers were taking on a fantastical journey that encompassed three CDs and over 40 hours worth of gameplay. The game continued the trend of using the series' staple turn-based battle system, complete with melee and elaborate magic attacks.

Description
FINAL FANTASY TACTICS' strategic battle system is a twist on the turn-based system of the other FINAL FANTASY titles. You begin as a noble squire named Ramza in a time of confusion and war in the land of Ivalice. Your best friend, a commoner named Delita, is caught in the middle of the struggle between nobles and commoners, and this affects you; so begins your long quest for the truth. Much of the story in TACTICS is told on the battlefield or as a direct result of battles, which take place on a three-dimensional grid that can be rotated 360 degrees. You select your battle party, put them on the field, and determine their every move. Between battles, you can explore towns and forests on the world map, acquire new items, and undertake side quests. TACTICS has plenty of nostalgia for FINAL FANTASY veterans, as well as a new play style to keep newcomers interested.

Two of the most beloved games in PlayStation history come together in one awesome package in FINAL FANTASY CHRONICLES. Teaming FINAL FANTASY IV and CHRONO TRIGGER, Square Electronic Arts presents this masterful collection that's aimed at fans of the original games and new gamers alike. Both games boat a variety of fresh features that will keep series devotees interested, and CHRONO TRIGGER even has a new beginning and ending. The new sequences shed some light on the game's cryptic story, giving gamers added insight into the mystery surrounding the action in the sequel CHRONO CROSS. Although it's packed with monsters and magic, this version of CHRONO TRIGGER also features innovative modes, such as Theater, Music Box, and Art Gallery. Enhancements to FINAL FANTASY IV include a speedier trip through some of the game's towns, as well as a new Two-Player mode. Classics on their own, these two games are even better side-by-side.

Description
CHRONO CROSS, the sequel to the SNES favorite CHRONO TRIGGER, is one of the most ambitious role-playing games ever made. There are over 40 playable characters, each with their back-story, special moves, abilities, and weapons. The story spans two discs and follows the story of Serge, a young man who is able to cross dimensions. Suddenly he is pulled between worlds, trying to figure out his own past at the same time. The graphics are bright and beautiful, utilizing the PlayStation's capabilities to the fullest. The polygonal character models are huge and detailed, and the pre-rendered backgrounds are immaculately detailed. The music is composed and arranged by Yasunori Mitsuda, and features very realistic-sounding synthesizers. The battle system revolves around Elements, which are used to grant magical powers, as well as to summon huge monsters. For anyone that wanted to see the story of CHRONO TRIGGER continue, this is your chance.
