This is a political item from the 1940 US Presidential Campaign in which Republican Wendell Willkie ran against incumbent President Franklin Roosevelt and lost. This item is a stud and appears to brass or some other sturdy alloy, it has patriotic red, white and blue, enamel work. It is tiny and measures approx. .5" across. The stud style of it, indicates that to me that this was meant to be worn in a button hole, most likely a lapel button hole. It is not typical of the campaign buttons or related pinbacks that I've seen. I also have not seen another example listed, so I consider this item a bit rarer as well as different, which is always exciting. This item has minor, normal expected wear, and some minor wear to the enamel, it is in overall good condition for its age. Campaign items are rather ephemeral and tend to be tossed after immediate use, and also one this tiny was likely to be just plain lost. So these are other reasons that I think that this piece is rarer. I am pleased to offer this appealing and unusual US Presidential Race campaign button for consideration.
