"High-End" Guitar Features
1. Spruce Soundboard
|
 |
The D-10 offers a high quality,
select spruce soundboard with a full sound.
Spruce is generally recognized as the best
type of wood from which the soundboard can be made.
Choice Sapele
is used for the sides and back for a highly attractive look. The
D-10 also has a high gloss durable finish.
"Other" inexpensive guitars use a pressed
wood or a lesser quality spruce wood. Nato wood is often used
for the back & sides. |
2. Dreadnought Body Style
The D-10 offers a traditional dreadnought
body style. The dreadnought is a good-sized body that
produces an amazingly full sound. The classic elongated body makes it a perfect fit for all guitar
players.
"Other" inexpensive guitars are also
built with the dreadnought body.
3. Enclosed Tuners
The
D-10 offers high-precision
enclosed tuners that keep dust and dirt out.
The D-10 Series uses die-cast tuners with a 14:1 gear
ratio. These precision-cut gears allow you to perfectly tune
your guitar quickly and easily, without slippage or backlash.
The sealed lubricant means that the machine heads will last
a lifetime.
"Other" inexpensive guitars are built using open tuners.
This will cause your guitar to come out of tune fairly quick.
4. Attractive White-Body
Binding Compliments Fingerboard Binding
The D-10 is constructed using a white ABS very strong binding, protecting
the edges from impact. Acoustic guitars without binding around
the edges can fall apart with even the slightest bump on the
edge. The TGX-D10 guitar not only has binding around the
edges on the body, but also along the edges of the neck and
headstock for
extra protection.
"Other inexpensive guitars"
use a thin paint stripe on them to appear as if they had a good
binding on them. Some guitars do use a very slim binding
around the body only.
5. 15-Degree
Peg Head
The D-10 comes with a 15 degree peg head angle for
a better sound quality and optimal intonation.
"Other" inexpensive guitars use a lower
angle, thus limiting the guitars intonation.
6. Decorative Rosewood
Finger Board with Pearl Position Markers
The D-10 is built using a rosewood finger board along with the easy
to see pearl position markers makes the frets easy to see. A
rosewood fingerboard is easier on your fingertips and gives out
a more full sound.
"Other" inexpensive guitars use a
softer nato or plywood for their fingerboards.
7. Classic 25.5" Scale Fingerboard
The D-10 is accurately tested to a 25.5 scale (from nut to
saddle) for maximum
string to length tension ratio. The 25.5 scale is good for acoustic guitars to better
transfer tonal energy through the components saddle and rosewood
bridge to the soundboard of the guitar.
"Other" inexpensive guitars are
generally built with a similar scale.
8. 20 Custom Alloy Frets with Beveled Edges
The D-10 has beveled alloy frets that will enable you to easily slide
your fingers from one fret to another without having your
fingers get stuck. Properly beveled frets will make for
smoother chord transitions.
"Other" inexpensive guitars may use
cheaper frets and are normally not filed properly, thus leaving
the edges sharp and making it uncomfortable to play.
9. Attractive Multi-Ringed
Sound Hole Rosette
The
D-10 has a multi-ringed rosette around the soundhole which
adds a great look to the guitar.
"Other" inexpensive guitars have a
similar type of decoration around the soundhole.
10. Custom Designed Rosewood
Bridge with High-Density Resin Cast Saddle
The
TGX-D10 comes with a custom
designed rosewood bridge with a compensated saddle for optimum string tone.
"Other" inexpensive guitars use a straight
saddle and the bridge is made of plywood and is painted black. A straight saddle will limit
the pitch of the guitar strings.
11. Back and Sides Select Sapele
Choice
Sapele is used for the back and sides
of the D-10 acoustic guitar. This makes for a better
sound, and a more attractive look.
"Other" inexpensive guitars use nato wood, a very soft imitation mahogany wood. You do not want soft
wood back and sides for two reasons:
1) The guitar will not produce a true full sound.
2) The guitar will not last as long, due to the wood weakening
over time.
12. Gold Plated Strap
Attachment Button
The D-10 offers a gold plated strap attachment button
that will
ensure a long lasting strap button.
"Other" inexpensive guitars use a
molded plastic type of a button.
13. Easy To See White
Position Markers
The D-10 guitar has easy-to-read white position markers.
When playing the guitar you want to be able to
easily see the position markers so you can quickly move from one
fret to the other without having to tilt the guitar to see the
front.
"Other" inexpensive guitars may or may
not have position markers.
