The Velvet Underground: "In 1966 there was..." 2xLP (UK, Velvet Records, 2009). Nice 2xLP set from the same folks that brought us the Live At The Gymnasium LP, pressed on color vinyl. "This collects a bunch of mostly live tracks from 1966, in the early and most experimental days of the band. From a performance at The Factory on Jan. 3: "Heroin," "Miss Joanie Lee," "Boom Boom," "Green Onions," "There She Goes Again" (Lou singing), "Walk Alone," "Venus in Furs/Cracking Up," "There She Goes Again" (Nico singing), and 3 untitled instrumentals. From The Factory on March 7: "Get It on Time"and "I'll be Your Mirror" (Lou singing). From a performance at NYC Filmmakers Cinematheque on Feb. 6: "Heroin," "I'll Keep It Mine," and "European Son." From a recording made at John Cale's loft sometime in the winter of '66: "Sheltered Life" and "Here She Comes Now." From the East Village Other's (a NYC underground newspaper) "Electric News Paper" LP recorded on Aug. 6: "Noise," plus a short interview with Andy Warhol on WNET-TV on Feb. 7.
