Hey Folks, I thought I would list this auction to show a Vendo 81B that was sold to a guy as a restored machine. I have purchased this machine from the unhappy owner, and plan to do a complete professional restoration on it. I am listing this to show you that a machine can be presented as a nice machine, but upon closer inspection, the Amateur con artist that mis-handled this machine, actually hurt the value rather than increase the value of the original machine..... MOST OF THE VALUE IN A RESTORED COKE MACHINE IS IN THE RESTORATION. A PROFESSIONAL RESTORATION WILL INCREASE THE VALUE OF THE ANTIQUE MACHINE, AND AMATEUR RESTORATION WILL HURT THE VALUE OF THE ORIGINAL MACHINE. PICTURES 1-3 show this machine as a restored Vendo 81B, and if these were the only pictures posted, then the buyer is led to believe that this is a nicely restored machine..... Crooked sellers purposely do not post close up photos, and use vague descriptions. Some crooked sellers will even list poorly restored machines as "professionally" restored. IF THE SELLER DOES NOT HAVE POSITIVE FEEDBACK FOR THE SALE OF RESTORED SODA MACHINES, THEN YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES. PICTURE #4 Shows the internal rust that is present in almost every old Soda Machine from the 1950's. When the Amateur does a quick "skuff and shoot" paint job, then this internal rust is left to continue rotting out the machine. A Professional Restorer always disassembles the machine down to the bare cabinet, then sand blasts down to the bare metal, removing the rust, and repairing the metal before the new insulation is installed.... WE GO ONE STEP FURTHER, WE EVEN UNDERCOAT THE INTERNAL AREAS WHERE THESE MACHINE ARE KNOW TO HAVE PROBLEMS AFTER THE RUST HAS BEEN REMOVED AND REPAIRED. SEE MY EBAY AUCTIONS!!! PICTURE #5 Shows that incorrectly drilled and screwed molding has been applied to the front door of this machine.... this is done either because the door is off a Vendo 81C or the Amateur did now want to take the door apart to install the original molding correctly. PICTURE #6 Shows that plastic car molding with an incorrect profile was used for side molding, also that unauthorized bootlegged decals were used on the sides.... these have hazy backgrounds, and were used by cheapskates who did not want to pay the full price for authorized decals. PICTURE #7 Shows that an incorrect Vendo 39 coin entry casting was placed on this Vendo 81. Most consumers would not realize this until it was too late. PICTURE #8 Shows that a Vendo 81A or C coin door was used on this machine, as well as an incorrect slug rejector, and that both the coin and cap catcher were missing. PICTURE #9 Shows that the original refrigeration unit's wires have been painted black with the condensing unit... this is a dangerous practice that could leed to a fire. WE COMPLETELY REWIRE AND RESTORE THE ORIGINAL REFRIGERATION UNITS USING NEW FAN MOTORS AND A NEW THERMOSTAT. PICTURE #10 Shows that none of the machine's original galvanized parts were restored.... old galvanizing oxidizes, then rusts.... painting over old rusted galvanizing is a trick that Amateur restorers do all the time. This picture also shows that the vending stack assembly was not restored. AND THE PAINTED CABINET LINER HAS RUSTED BACK THROUGH THE SILVER PAINT. PICTURE #11 Shows that the floresant light assembly is missing the light switch, bulb, and lens, and the door liner is missing the inspection plates. PICTURE #12 Shows that the machine was not disassembled and sandblasted to remove the old paint and rust before a quick amateur paint job was done.....The entire top of this machine has paint that is checked, cracked and blistered. BUYERS BEWARE, AS ECONOMIC TIMES GET TOUGH, MORE CON ARTIST ARE ACTIVE. MAKE SURE YOU BUY FROM A REPUTABLE SELLER. LOOK FOR THEIR FEEDBACK, ASK FOR REFERENCES.... MINE ARE POSTED FOR ALL TO SEE.
