Really Beautiful  Italian Etching / Engraving c1800 of
VENICE - Clock Turret on St Mark's Square

The famous clock over looking St Mark's Square in Venice
is possibly the second most well known clock in the world,
after "Big Ben". Its remarkable reputation comes not only
from its aesthetic appeal, but also from its age and
very prominent location in a popular tourist venue.
The clock has its origins in 1493 when the Venetian Republic commissioned Gian Carlo Rainieri, a clockmaker from
Reggio Emilia, to make the movement.
The Doge Agostino Barbarigo inaugurated
the Clock on February 1st 1499 .

Artist /author  : CHILONE
Engraver : ALIPIANDI
The engraving was printed in Milano
Well visible plate mark .

Dated around c1800 - Late 18C to early 19th cent.
Signed in the plate - author & engraver
Under the image - title on 4 languages and publisher .

Framed in nice old periodic gilded frame - old gold finish .
Size of the frame - 36.5 cm. x 28.5 cm ;
Size of the paper sheet - 34 x 26 cm.
Size ofthe plate mark - 30 x 22 cm.
There is no glass with the frame and the item will be send without any glass .


Condition : near Perfect -
some slight yellowing around the edge and on the back
also some tear on lower left corner but it was repaired and
is not easy noticeable ;
The frame has some nicks .
The image is clear and looks great !!!
