This is a wonderfully well-preserved example of Swiss Bayonet Pioneer Model 1878 which was designed to be used with the Vetterli Rifle. It is mounted with a beautiful sawback blade that measures 18 3/4 inches in length which remains in superb, original condition with very good markings on one side of the ricasso. The checkered composite grips as well as the pommel both remain in very good condition as well. The steel fitted leather scabbard also remains very nice with just a little scuffing to the finish nevertheless, the leather is supple with all the stitching good and intact. Overall the Bayonet measures 23 5/8 inches in length. There is no reserve. (please note other items shown as props are not included in this auction)
