VERY RARE ANTIQUE MARASALI SHIRVAN SADDLEBAG FACE. WOW!

EXTREMELY RARE ANTIQUE MARASALI SHIRVAN SADDLEBAG FACING, Shirvan district, south of Shemaka, 2nd third of the 19th century, and comes in excellent condition for its age. The exact size is: 1'-0" x 1'-3" (30 x 38 cm). A large scarab medallion floats off the surface of the soft madder red field and is framed by a spacious ivory "Marasali bird's head" border surround. Great natural dyes. Very fine weave structure. Great pile condition for its age. Side cords have been re-wrapped. Both ends need to be sewn back secure to prevent future loss of knots. A good soaking and hand washing will greatly improve its appearance. Incredible presence in the hand. No need to go on and on about this particular bag face. It is a "killer" piece. No other known published specimen of its type.
