Extremly Rare late 18th century Blown Glass Lace Maker's Lamp
Description: Extremely Rare And Hard To Find Late 18th Century Blown Glass Lace Maker’s Lamp. Standing 5 1/4" tall, this lamp was filled with water and placed between the candle and the lace pillow in order to magnify and intensify the light for the fine lace work. A discussion of lace maker’s lamps with illustrations is found on pp251-256 of Gertrude Whiting’s* OLD TIME TOOLS & TOYS OF NEEDLEWORK*. An example virtually identical to this one is shown on page 26 of Bridget McConnel’s *The Story Of Antique Needlework Tools*. This example is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or other damage. Check out my other items! Be sure to visit us on our e-store fineandmint E-mail store@fineandmint.com
