VERY RARE old antique German blown glass Christmas tree ornament, a full-length figure of a mushroom man wearing a mushroom cap. He is 3 5/8" tall. Circa the early 1900's. This old ornament is UNSILVERED and was made that way. Condition: paint is EXTRA-NICE. There are a few white spots missing from the mushroom cap. The pike is even with no chips. No cracks or damage to the glass. Great molding and expression on this unusual old mushroom man. The German ornament-makers believed that mushrooms were good luck. A lot of the early German postcards and artwork feature mushroom people, elves, fairies, and other woods- and forest-folk! This is an outstanding old character ornament!
