VICTORIAN Silver INK INKWELL & STAND Hallmarked 1900 NR

Sheffield: Atkin Brothers - V. RARE - SUPERB CONDITION

This is a stunning ANTIQUE VICTORIAN solid sterling silver inkstand with its original solid sterling silver mounted glass inkwell that was made in Sheffield, England in 1900 by the illustrious Victorian silversmiths, Atkin Brothers at their Matilda Street workshops. The ink stand is in a lovely oval shape with a deep border, cutwork sides, a reeded edge and is raised on four elegant legs. It measures 8 1/8" wide by 3 5/8" deep and stands 1 3/8" tall. It is very substantial - it weighs 131.6 grams (without the inkwell) - virtually 4 1/4 troy oz. The inkwell is in a faceted oval shape, 12" wide and 3 3/4" tall, with a solid silver rim and spired lid and is NOT engraved.
