FROM 1939 TO 1945 COOKING FAT WAS SAVED FOR THE WAR EFFORT. IN THE 1950'S AND 60'S IT WAS SAVED TO BE RECYCLED. THE POTTERY GREASE HOLDER SHAPED LIKE A CLOWN'S HEAD IS 4 1/2" HIGH. IT HAS A TWISTED METAL HANDLE. THE BOTTOM IS MARKED "THAMAS JAPAN." THE GREASE HOLDER HAD MATCHING TEAPOT SHAPED SALT AND PEPPER SHAKERS (WHICH I HAVE LISTED AND YOU CAN SEE ALONG WITH MATCHING CLOWN FACED TEAPOT IN MY OTHER AUCTION)  WERE MEANT TO BE KEPT AS A SET NEAR THE STOVE.  THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AND GOOD LUCK WITH ALL YOUR EBAY BIDDING.
