VINTAGE ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP BOAT SPITTOON SPITOON OLD nr
Here's a rare nautical item you don't see every day. It's a spittoon specifically made for use on ships. That's why it has the wide bottom, for stability on the ship.
I happen to know that this one came off the dredge the "NIAGARA" that operated on the Great Lakes waterways beginning in 1913. This spittoon is 5 inches tall. The top is 7 inches in diameter and the bottom is 7 3/4 inches in diameter. There is a little bend in the lid, that will bend back in shape easily but I left it there so you can decide if you want to leave it like that or fix it. As you can see in the picture, there is a nice aged patina to the brass.
There you have it. A spittoon with the actual boat she was used on. You can't get much better than that for your nautical collection. I know you'll be happy with this rare nautical item.
