VINTAGE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN CHILDS PAINTED SLED SLEIGH NR

Up for auction, a pretty sled just in time for the Christmas holidays. What a great way to decorate your home for the holiday. It is red to dark red, the pin striping is gold, the leaves are mostly green with a little white and the roses are mostly white, but have some red. It measures 13” to 15” wide, the area on the bottom of the runners that touches the ground is 34” long, the seat (area that is hand painted with flowers) is 24” long & 10 ½” wide, total length is 37”, from the bottom to the seat is 8” high and the total height is a little over 13 ½” high.

I am not a collector, so I do not know for sure who made this or where it was made. I have been told that this was most likely made in the late 1800’s, but could be very early 1900’s. There is no manufacturer stamp on the sled anywhere that I can find. I have been told that it is possibly made by Paris, and have been also told that it is called Rosebud. What I do know is that it had been in my x-husband’s family for a long time and I have had it now for 23 years. His family is from Chicago, IL.

CONDITION

The paint has some chipping/paint loss in various areas all over the sled and the wood has split in some areas, which is to be expected considering this was originally a toy and used as such. I have tried to take pictures from different views so you can see it.
