VINTAGE CUT CRYSTAL DECANTER OLEAN MAKERS MARK SIGNED

Sparkling, stately hammer-shaped crystal decanter.  The body has a star and fan design with three different sized lozenge panel cuts going up the neck and panel cuts and stars to the stopper.  There is a sunburst to the underside.

Both stopper and neck of the decanter are etched with the number “78”.  There are pinpricks to the bottom of the stopper and wear to the underside of the decanter.  We find no other flaws.

To the rim of the base is a tiny etched maker’s mark, Most likely “G” superimposed on a “C”, encircled.  This is the mark for Oleans Glass Company of Oleans, NY.  It looks to us as if this mark was impressed or etched several times in an attempt to get it right (often the “G” was not clear and appeared more like a “C” than a “G”). There appears to be an artist’s signature, either “LEE” or “LCC”.  Please see photos.

The base is 4 ½” in diameter and 12 ½” tall to the top of the stopper.
