VINTAGE EMERSON BATTERY POWERED RADIO H137 - NEEDS TLC
















 

For sale: a classic Emerson battery powered radio, model H137, manufactured in 1936.   It needs tender loving care to restore it or it can be parted out for the components.  I found an instruction manual inside and have scanned the first and last pages of it.  It indicates that the last battery replacement occurred on June 17, 1939.  The manual comes with the items.  A source of parts can be viewed here.  I can send you a PDF of the whole manual if you want it.  I will need your email address to do that.

I don’t know anything about vintage radios, I can only give you the description of the faults that I see and let the pictures tell the rest of the story. 

The Body:

·        There is some veneer separations on the grill frame.

·        Minor parts of the veneer are missing.

·        The sides and back are cupped and have minor surface scratches.

The Interior:

·        The station selector is not operating.

·        The 1 ½ volt batteries are showing corrosion.  I am assuming that the 45 volt “B” batteries are dead.

·        I don’t know the condition of the tubes.
