VINTAGE FIGURAL EMBROIDERED PUTTI SHEET WITH DRAWNWORK This is a lovely fancy European top sheet. It was was recently purchased from an Italian trousseau and dates from the late 1920's. It is a fine cotton, and measures 91-1/2" in width by 96" in length. This would fit a queen sized bed.
The center of this sheet is embellished by a small open work trailings with two embroidered Putti and embroidered floral embellishments. The fancy white work as well as the cut work extend the entire width of the sheet ( about 91-1/2" ). Beneath the cut work is are 2 rows of pulled and drawn work. This sheet was hard to photograph to show the embroidery work. The overlap of the sheet measures 27". These were made extra long so that you can turn back the top edge for a beautiful display on your bed. Other types of handwork on the sheet are fine raised satin stitch.

The condition of this set is excellent, with no holes or stains. I just found a small section of drawnwork that needs to be mended in the overlap side of the sheet. Freshly laundered and snowy white and free of wear, stains or repairs, the sheet would be a delicate addition for your queen or king bed (as a sheet or bedcover) or for your collection. The fine floral embroidered work, and gentle floral satin stitches, give a simplistic femininity to this sheet. They are reminiscent of a very grand and regal period in linens. Would make a lovely holiday gift, or would make a great addition to your linen collection.
