Offered here is a vintage hand stitched framed Folk Art Postage stamp quilt, modeled exactly after the 1978 Folk Art USA: Quilt 13 cent Stamp which is also framed on the matte just below the quilt. This quilt is quite literally a postage stamp quilt, as it is made in the "postage stamp" style using small squares, to replicate actual commemorative folk art quilt postage stamps ( with almost an exact match on the fabric). The quilt and stamps are four baskets of varying pattern and color, mirroring each other.
In 1978, the US Postal Service put out the four-stamp art commemorative series, the theme for these stamps was “Folk Art USA: Quilts.” Although quilts weren’t an American invention, the combination of our weaving industries, Singer’s invention of the mass-produced sewing machine, and a social interest in practical artistic hobbies developed into a home-grown easily-identifiable style, not to mention the addition of Pennsylvania Dutch technique. Unlike most stamps, the quilting stamps were laid out in a symmetric way, with the bottom edge around the “outside” of the four-square box. The stamps were “quilted” themselves, their design made up of a combination of triangles and squares of colorful fabric, making for a strikingly beautiful appearance in the full sheet.
Preserved in a nice beveled wooden frame, with a sage green matte. A really great collectors item, as well as an aesthetically pleasing Folk Art piece.

Framed piece measures approximately 18 1/4" wide, 19 1/2" long, 1" deep. Quilt measures 11" long x 11" wide. Stamps measure 2 1/2 x 2 1/2.

We rely on USPS & Fedex for domestic shipping, therefore shipping times vary.
Fedex is less expensive for heavy/bulky items delivered to further zones from NJ. Delivery can take longer since there are limitations on pick up times.
We generally ship items on Wednesday and Friday of every week.

RETURN POLICY
We try to describe each item as accurately as possible or will have enough photos to show condition. There are no returns for buyers remorse. Returns are only accepted for errors in description.
Non disclosure of a manufacturing defect, firing flaw, ping, craze line, or something small which we deem unimportant on anything we sell is not considered by us to be a misrepresentation of condition. These conditions can possibly exist in pieces we represent to be in excellent condition. If we neglect to describe something we feel is insignificant, we will not accept the item back. We sell antiques & collectibles & due to their nature, they are rarely perfect!
If we accept your return, we will issue a refund upon receipt of your item provided that it is returned in its original packaging & is in the same condition as it was when it was sent. We will not refund return shipping fees unless we sent you an incorrect item.
