Wool Blanket
This is a vintage Hudson's Bay type blanket featuring the classic four color pattern striping in green, red, yellow and black. This blanket has a unilingual English label on it - all labels were mandated bilingual by law in Canada after 1972, so this blanket would have to date to before that time, and the gold label is known to have been used from the beginning of the 1960s until 1972. This is a 4 point blanket - this designates the size of the blanket. Four point blankets now indicate a double sized blanket and usually measure 72" by 90", but this one measures 70" by 93". This one is very good condition - it has no holes or tearing with very good original nappe (finish). There are, however, a few problems - dirty and torn label (see close-up photo) and a couple of small light stains (see close-up photo), including one between the point stripes (see photo). I'm sure that these would come out with a proper dry cleaning. In addition, there are a couple of small spots where the nappe is nibbled (see photo) and two places where there is black thread woven into the wool, not sure why, but shouldn't bother anyone in any case. The points are woven so as to be raised on the background, not like the newer Hudson's Bay blankets and I would say that the quality is better than more recent ones. I am now shipping to my US clients through USPS services. I am located in Canada but I now have a carrier service to bring my parcels directly across the border on Thursdays to be shipped out of the USPS postal outlet in Champlain, N.Y. In addition to the actual shipping cost, I do charge a $4.00 handling fee to cover the cost of this special US service. Please note that even with the handling fee that it is less expensive and is a quicker service than using Canada Post. If you wish your item to be shipped by USPS in the same week, I would require your paypal payment by Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
PLEASE NOTE: For items which sell over $200.00, I must ship to my U.S. clients using Canada Post, this is due to customs regulations.
To my Canadian clients, I use Canada Post for shipping, as I am based in Canada.
To my International clients I can ship by either Canada Post or by USPS (in order to use USPS for intl. clients - the items must sell for under $200.00).
Please feel free to write with any inquiries in regards to cost of shipping to you.
I would request any client to get in touch with me upon winning an item, who is NOT able to pay by Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, so I can get an idea of when to expect your payment.
