This is a really neat Vintage, probably late 1940-50's time frame , portrait of one tough-looking Boxer. I almost thought it was a Pit Bull, but my husband..the dog expert..says it is definitely more ' Boxerish '. It is in a Art Deco Impressionist style, possibly a Sunday Artist or better..painted on old board. It measures 28 x 24 ins. , so a med/large painting. Large for a dog painting for sure. It is signed quite nicely at the bottom right, Pearce Gevard Johnson. I would consider it to be in fair/good condition with some definite surface scratches , bottom middle, left side area, and the left corner at the very tip is bent a little, common w/ old board paintings. Probably could stand to be cleaned, as most paintings, but not necessary. I see w/ a magnifying glass a few chips of paint , tiny, to the dog's body and tail. I feel like I make some paintings sound so bad, condition wise, but I have had some very , VERY picky ebayers lately..so I am trying to be your eyes here. Check out the pics please. All in all, it is an awesome deco-style dog painting. He is definitely a tough-looking canine , if a dog could be Macho..then he epitomizes it. Any questions please email me.
