VINTAGE LADIES HAT - PURCHASED AT A SOTHEBY'S AUCTION

FROM SAKS FIFTH AVENUE

The cap is made of a double layer of netting in a light brown color.  It is a cap style.  I'm going to guess and say that these are either soft feather quills or treated straw or treated horse mane.  They are not totally stiff, but not limp either.  They have a glossy sheen to them.  It has two brown 3 prong clips sewn into each side on the interior of the cap.

I'm not sure the story behind this, but it was purchased by an avid hat collector at a Sotheby's auction.  I image it belonged to someone famous or important.

The circumference of the cap is 19 inches measured on the inside at the bottom of the cap.  The total width is about 18 inches.

It has been kept in air conditioning and safe inside of a hat box. 

Comes from a smoke free environment.
