HAT

This is a vintage, ceremonial/ritual Knights Templar Masonic hat. The hat has a gold velvet crown surrounded by emerald satin fabric which has dark yellow/orange stitching in fancy scroll. The hat looks much like a turbin. The inside of the hat is lined with red fabric and has the stamp of the maker, The M. C. Lilley & Co., Columbus, Ohio. It also has a stamped name/position ???? just under the maker's mark which reads "Oba........?" The stamped name is faded. Surrounding the inside edge of the hat is a wide leather band. The hat is from the Brazil, Indiana Masonic Temple. The red, inside lining has become loose almost all the way around  from under the leather band but could easily be reattached. There is wear to one side of the green fabric around the leather band. That wear has caused the fabric to split. The gold velvet is dirty from years of storage. There is no size marked on the hat but measures 22" around the leather.
