VINTAGE MASONIC MASON APRON BLUE LODGE SILK MASTER NR !

A fantastic find for the collector or anyone interested in the Blue Lodge. On offer an Masonic Apron. The Lamb(Kid)-Skin/Leather front decorated with the Masonic emblems. Some scuffing and rubbing to the skin. The designs remain bright. This apron measures 12 inches at the longest point. 14 inches wide. Strings measure 36 inches on each side not including the tassels. Some loss to the threading/stitching. Rear cotton backing remains blue. Tassels with fraying. Everything being said apron remains better than average.

From family tradition this apron had not been used in the lodge for many years. We would estimate early 20th Century.

This apron would have been worn by the Worshipful Master.

The senior officer of a Masonic Lodge is the Master, normally addressed and referred to as the 'Worshipful Master'. The Worshipful Master sits in the East of the lodge room, directs all of the business of his lodge, and is vested with considerable powers without further reference to the members. He also presides over ritual and ceremonies.

The office of Worshipful Master is the highest honor to which a lodge may appoint any of its members. The office is filled by election, generally by means of a secret ballot. However, in most lodges the progression is such that the post will almost always be filled by the previous year's Senior Warden.

There are seven officers in a Lodge- The Worshipful Master, the two Wardens, the two Deacons, the Inner Guard known together as the Stewards but Comprising only one office, and the Outer Guard of Tyler. These seven positions represent seven aspects of consciousness psychologically co-ordinated into a unity known as a “just and perfect lodge”. Just as Man without all of these seven faculties would be considered insane, so a Lodge would be imperfect and unable to perform proper and effective work without its seven officers.

The number seven represents completeness. Creation  took place in seven time periods. There are seven colors in the rainbow, seven notes in a musical scale, seven days in a week.

Together the seven officers represent how human consciousness works. They represent the co-ordinated parts connecting Man’s outer nature with his inmost Divine Principle. They provide the necessary channels for the various spiritual and material levels to maintain contact.

To summarize: The Master represents the Spirit. The Senior Warden represents the Soul, or Psyche. The Junior Warden represents the Mind. The Senior Deacon represents the link between Spirit and Soul. The Junior Deacon represents the link between Sound and Mind. The Stewards represent the inner senses, the astral body. The Tyler represents the outer, physical senses.

A must for the collector.

Ok, vacations and all family related trips are finished. (My wife loves falconry and the Equinox in Manchester, Vt., does it best.) In our absence we had the privilege of acquiring the vast collection of Allen T. Hazen, of Samuel Johnson and Horace Walpole fame. We must say that by far, this was the most interesting house call, in 12 years of buying books. Mr. Hazen, died in 1977 and the tomes have rested on the same shelves since that time; in a beautiful prewar apartment on Riverside Drive. Bibliomania at its height, with many twists and events. Lets start buy giving you the phone number, 212-666-. Please keep us bookmarked as we are still working on the collection and should have some of the tomes and maps listed by the end of next month. Also remember to check our website for other great items located over the summer.

We still have the Masonic collection as well. Please have a look this week as we will be listing numerous other Masonic items this week as well. The collection is vast and includes numerous items that we have never encountered in 20 years of actively collecting Masonic related items. Please keep us bookmarked.

It is very important to note that a large portion of the proceeds of this auction are going directly to the Blue Lodge. The Lodges name and address will be included with the item to confirm donation. Many thanks again
