1/2" Sterling Silver Cuff Bracelet

Cyrus Josytewa, a Hopi, master silversmith has handcrafted this attractive bracelet with its polished sterling silver mirror-like finish, circa late 1980s. This bracelet is in new condition and has never been worn. It is a perfect example of the traditional Hopi overlay process with its exact, clean lines, flawless simplicity and the characteristic oxidized, blackened background. This bracelet would make the perfect gift for someone who appreciates quality authentic Hopi jewelry. It can be worn everyday and will last a lifetime.

Bracelet is 1/2” wide in the center and gradually tapers to 5/8" at the ends next to the gap
Inside Measurement is 6-7/8” including the gap. This will fit a 6-7/8” wrist. The bracelet can be carefully adjusted to fit a smaller or larger wrist.
An easy way to determine the correct size of your wrist and to insure the best fit is to place a tape measure over your wrist bones and completely wrap the tape measure around your wrist so that it is comfortable

The Hopi overlay process involves using two layers of sterling silver which gives Hopi jewelry a distinguishing look. The bottom layer serves as the base or foundation for the artist’s creation. The second layer is the detailed design. The artist created this design by hand using small jeweler’s saws and chisels. This is a tedious process that requires a steady hand. The top layer is bonded to its foundation layer in a complex soldering process. The bottom layer is etched and oxidized to give it that characteristic blackened look that Hopi jewelry is known for. Hopi designs usually include cultural symbols that include animals, nature or clan symbols that are considered religious or secular in meaning.
