UP FOR BID IS THIS VINAGE HEIGHT GAUGE BY THE L. S. STARRETT CO. IN ATHOL, MASS. U.S.A. THIS ITEM WAS MADE IN U.S.A. AND IS MODEL NO. 454. AND IS IN THE ORIGINAL BOX. CASE DOES SHOW WEAR AND TEAR, BUT IT DOES LOCK MANUALLY. YOU HAVE TO SLIDE LOCK LEVER TO THE LEFT WHEN CASE IS CLOSED. THE GAUGE WILL MEASURE UP TO 12". INSCRIBED LIGHTLY IS THE INITIALS HME AND THE NUMBERS 401. THERE ARE OTHER PARTS IN THE BOX ALSO. CHECK PICTURES BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS INSTRUMENT. CASE IS I5" LONG AND HAS VELVET LINING. DOES HAVE A MUSTY SMELL BUT I PUT SOME DRYER SHEETS INSIDE CASE. THAT IS SUPPOSED TO HELP THE ODER DISAPPEAR. SO PLEASE BE AWARE THIS WAS PROBABLY STORED IN THE BASEMENT FOR A WHILE. THE CORNERS OF BOX ARE WORN. CHECK OUT ALL THE PICTURES TO SEE WHAT YOU WILL BE RECEIVING IF YOU ARE THE WINNER.
