VPI RECORD CLEANING MACHINE
This is the very best and most convenient of the record cleaning machines. VPI has been making this machine for years and it is heavy duty with no corners cut. If you have vinyl records the process is simple:
1. Place the record on the turntable and turn on the motor.
2. Spray a mixture of alcohol and soapy water across the record’s surface as it spins. Only enough to fill the grooves.
3. Lighly hold the soft brush across the grooves as the records turns for only a few rotations.
3. Swing the vacuum arm across the surface of the record and turn on the vacuum motor. This sucks up about 99% of the surface water and dirt.
4. Lastly, lightly hold the enclosed drying bar across the groves while the record turns to remove any residual moisture.
This process takes about a minute a side and the result is amazing. Pops and noise disappear, but more importantly, you will hear depth and clarity from the record that you never thought possible. The only thing it won’t fix is scratches. If you have acetate records, you can’t use the alcohol, but everything else is the same. There are products out there for cleaning both vinyl and acetate, but I have found the above works as good as anything. Comes with cleaning brush, wipes, extra vacuum arm and instructions.
The collected water goes into an emptyable stainless steel storage tank and when you see the water being drained, you won’t believe how much dirt and sludge has been removed. This unit is in near new condition and is good for thousands of applications. List price is $540.
