Vance Bourjaily SIGNED "The Great Fake
Book"(Franklin Library, 1986)Limited 1st Edition, 1st Printing
FlatSigned by Vance Bourjaily, an American writer,
novelist, playwright, journalist, and essayist, considered by Ernest Hemingway
to be one of the most talented novelists of his generation! "The Great Fake Book
spans four decades in America--from the optimistic post-World War II years to
the chaotic months of the Iranian hostage crisis. Charles Mizzourin, a
thirty-year-old congressional aide during Jimmy Carter's presidency, knows only
that his dad, Mike, was a reporter for a New York newspaper in the late 1940's.
Since Mike had been killed in an automobile accident when Charles was still a
baby, and since Charles' mother, former fashion model Livia Scaliger, refuses to
talk about Mike, Charles must enlist help elsewhere. He finds it in John McRae
Johnson, once Mike's editor, now retired in Colorado." A fantastic
collector's item!
Book is
beautifully bound in brown leather with all edge gilt on text block, decorative
gilt on boards, a permanent satin bookmark, collector's notes, marbled end
pages and a hubbed spine. Author has signed the book on a front flyleaf. Book is in VERY GOOD+ condition and is square and tightly bound with clean, crisp pages inside. Some very light rubbing to the corners. Gilt on edges of text block have some minor blemishes. Previous owner or bookstore has penciled in a price and stock number at the top of one of the front flyleaves. Make this incredible book a part of your collection today!
FlatSigned means HAND SIGNED on the page by the author, not
personalized (as in "To Billy") or signed on an attached sticker or bookplate. A
book which has been FlatSigned is almost always a better investment and is far
more desirable than a book that is personalized or contains a signed
sticker/bookplate.
