Various Hoosiers Brand new CD direct from Gulcher Records! Click "View Seller's Other Items" for more Gulcher CDs! FREE surprise bonus CD with every order shipped! Revisit the Hoosier state with the 2001 reissue of RED SNERTS--THE SOUND OF GULCHER on digitally remastered CD! This highly collectible 16-song sampler of Indiana punk and new-wave bands was originally released on vinyl in 1981, and has been out-of-print for the better part of the past 20 years. In addition to tracks by well-known Gulcher bands, including the Gizmos, the Panics, the Jetsons, Dow Jones & The Industrials, and the Dancing Cigarettes, RED SNERTS features appearances by the Amoebas In Chaos, Mr. Science, the Defekts, A. Xax, E-in Brino, Phil Hundley, the Post Raisin Band, Last Four (4) Digits, Freddy & The Fruitloops, the Zero Boys, and bay-root. RED SNERTS gave several Hoosier groups and musicians their start--of particular note, the Zero Boys went on to become one of America's most popular hardcore bands; Gizmos lead singer Dale Lawrence formed the Vulgar Boatmen; and the Post Raisin Band eventually distilled into the Wooldridge Brothers. In the October 1981 issue of NEW YORK ROCKER, Ira Kaplan wrote about RED SNERTS: "Some cuts're good, some bad, but they all have that unassuming charm, that feeling of 'oh boy, makin' a record' not 'watch out, making a statement'...all you have to do is listen between the grooves." |
