We were lucky enough to come across more than one of these. We sold one last month,
and are listing the second one now. This listing is for one rare 6 1/4" diameter canary
yellow vaseline flint glass plate in the Horn of Plenty (aka Comet, or Peacock Eye) pattern.
It was produced by Boston & Sandwich circa 1850s. This plate is in slightly better condition
than the last one that we sold, however, it does have a fairly large bubble at the rim.
The bubble is open on the edge and presents an approximately 1/8" x 3/16" hole between scallops.
This plate has rim mold seam roughness, a few small rim chips, a few inclusions, some bubbles
and a noticeable 2" strawmark on the face. All issues are relatively minor and expected on
examples of this age. Actual diameter is closer to 6 3/8", and height is 3/4". This plate has no cracks
or splits, and rings nicely when tapped. It glows brilliantly under black light.
Email with any questions, and check out our other antique pressed glass and sandwich listings!
