Handmade Vegetable Ivory Elephant

 In the tropical rainforest of South America “vegetable ivory” palms grow as tall as 30 feet. The dried nuts resemble the fines animal ivory but it is more dense and resilient. In one year, a single tagua palm produces as much “ivory” as an elephant. This can go a long way toward protecting endangered species such as elephants, whales and walruses that are hunted for their ivory.

The natural color of tagua is ivory white and resembles the finest animal ivory in texture and color but can vary to an ivory-amber. It is close grain and very hard, but is more dense and resilient than that of elephant ivory and similar in durability. This product is not toxic
