| Chambersite is a rare borate group mineral (it is the manganese analogue of Boracite) with an extremely limited occurrence. Small crystals are found only in the area around Barber's Hill Salt Dome in Chambers Co., Texas. Gems are sometimes cut, but these are limited by the overall size of the crystals - stones are almost always cut as triangles which follow the crystal faces in order to preserve as much weight as possible. This lovely little example of a natural Chambersite crystal has the characteristic medium purple color and illustrates the typical shape quite well. It is quite transparent in sections and has a nice overall gemmy quality. This gem is completely natural and untreated. Chambersite has a hardness of 7 on the Moh's scale and is primarily a collector's gem. Weight: 0.04 ct.
