 Description Shipping and payments
This is a very scarce pearl Colonial button in a brass mounting with the pattern incised with pitch. The pattern is a sun burst. Even though the photo doesn't show it, the iridescence is stunning even after 180 years or so. Beautiful blues, greens, pinks and purple's. It really is a stunning button! The photo does not do this button justice! I did not clean the brass mount. I will leave that up to the new owner. Having said that I would recommend not polishing it for two reasons; loss of patina and potential damage to the pitch incising. It measures the typical just a shade over one inch. There is a soldered brass loop shank on the reverse. I'm not sure that the solder is original to the button. The shank appears to be original. As seen in the photo most of the pitch incising is intact. Rarely seen button! Shipping every Saturday after receipt of payment.Recommend optional postal insurance.
