Vibrant Abstract Expressionist Painting by Mark Kazav

Mark Kazavinski (a.k.a. Mark Kazav) and his family fled from the Soviet Union in the 1990's. They settled in Canada and Mark began to express himself through painting. His paintings are now in many international collections and they have become highly collectable. I have always been drawn to abstract-expressionist art and that is why I purchased this painting about 8 years ago. With a smaller home now, lots of my abstract paintings will have to go.

This painting is acrylic on stretched (mounted)  canvas and it is entitled "California Hills" on the back. The painting measures 20" x 16" . The artist has signed his initials ("MK") in red in the lower right quarter of the painting. He has also signed his full name on the back of the canvas and also written "Toronto 2000". The artist employs a wet-in-wet technique in thickly applied strokes ala Van Gogh or later Hans Hofmann. This painting is particularly vibrant and bold and it truly caputres the essence of the California mountain landscape. A most colorful expressionist work!
