This gown began as a special project, and something I have been wanting to do for a long time. The lace you see on the underskirt and the accenting areas on the bodice were once a 1950's wedding gown. Though the gown was in excellent condition, I took it apart and used it to creat the gown you see in these pictures. The other fabrics used are a beautiful dark peach with woven floral damask brocade, and a dark peach faille. They are lovely heavy woven fabrics tah are simply stunning with the vintage lace.
The lined underskirt is made from the faille with a pleated ruffle at it's bottom edge (note picture), I then added the vintage lace skirt over that. Has a set on waist band with a left side closure where there are tailor hook and eyes. The front of the vintage lace gown was three tiers of wide lace with the back being mostly tulle ruffles. There are tulle ruffles under the tiered lace as well.
The unlined overskirt is made from the floral brocade. I edged it with another net lace that is beautifully embroidered with white and gold. I made the back floor length so that is would not show so much of the tulle ruffles, as they are not as pretty to look at as the lace showing in the front. The back his heavily poofed and looks awesome! The front has a "V" shape, and both sides at pleated and accented bands, that give the illusion of pulling the sides up are machine embroidered and gives the kirts a sweet touch. Center back closure with tailor hook and eyes.
The Bodice made up so cute! The back sports a "V" faille section with the machine embroidery (as the over skirt sides do), as well as some of the scalloped lace from the vintage gown. You can see the the bottom back fits wonderfully over the bustle. The front has 14 lace covered buttons from the original gown buttoning the center front. Also take note there is more of the scalloped vintage lace at the shoulders. The sleeves are 3/4 length edged with the net embroiderd lace and pleated ruffles from the faille. Bodice is lined and lightly boned.
The sweet little hat is adorable with the gown. It is a small black wool felt hat decorated with green and black ribbon, two kinds of feathers, and vintage 'looking' pins. This hat was made by Ms Purdy, also an ebay seller.
All sales are final, so please take note of the measurements listed above.
