This antique table looks great from any angle! The exquisitely carved edges contrast beautifully with the solid oak top. This is the crank that operates the table; it still operates very smoothly.
Here you can see some of the stress marks that the table has sustained in various places. These heavily carved legs are as sturdy as they are beautiful. This is on the crank, which can only be seen when the table is opened. It reads:
"Joseph Fitter / Patentee / Brittania Works Cheaps / Birmingham".
     This exquisite antique crank table was handmade in England around 1890, during the Victorian period. Recently imported to our Atlanta antique store, this table remains in excellent overall condition for a piece of its age, with only the most minor stress marks, and with an incredibly sturdy structure. The oak, which has aged beautifully over the years, now displays a complexion as rich as its grain, which is especially complemented by the intricate carving in the edges and legs. Two leaves accompany this crank table, so it extends between a range of 5 to 8 feet in length. The crank operates by being attached to one end of the table, where it is turned by hand in order to open the table. When fully extending the table, the center supports will need to be held by a second person until the leaves are in place, at which time this crank table is extremely sturdy.
