Antique Victorian Silver High Button Shoe Tall Hearth Match Holder

Description

Rare Victorian Antique Heavy Silver hollowware high button shoe long hearth match holder; May have once had a cushion inside for use with hat pins. Perfect for fireplace matches or longer olde world calligraphy or quill pens. The inside was not made plated and appears unfinished spelter with over 100 years of age ware and dust inside. Very heavy and gorgeous similar to hotel ware. This piece is in wonderful heirloom condition and the silver is nearly completely intact; Bidding begins low for fairness (see highly detailed photographs below). Purchased at an archaic cabin near the early Ozark settlement town of Warsaw, Missouri, where many antiques are found untouched for decades in the old cabins. They were once homes of the early river trappers and fishermen before the lake was introduced for hydroelectric power; now nestled along Lake of the Ozarks. You will see the spelter peaking through the silver-plate on the bottom ever so slightly where the piece has gently worn smooth from over 100 years of gentle display, but, no pealing or flaking. Silver is 95% or more intact; Only worn on the bottom under the boot and a minuscule scuff in the silver here and there where objects may have come in contact with the piece at some time. These boots were popular during the 1800’s. No maker's marks, hallmarks, or any other marks. Victorian; Guaranteed to be an authentic antique from the turn of the century. A perfect match to your Victorian jewelry casket, sterling mirror and brush, cake basket, pin-cushion, fruit basket, bride’s baskets, or objects d’vertu. This gorgeous piece does not have any noticeable usage marks, no dents, no dings, never been bent or dropped - too heavy to ever bend, no utensil marks, and no scrapes or scratches. You will see slight signs of use and old age as the piece is over 100 years old; a museum piece. See highly detailed pictures below. Measures 6 inches in length by 2 ¼ inches wide, and stands 5 ½ inches tall; Vase hole is approximately 4 ¼ inches deep and 1 ¾ inches across the inside of the opening. Would make a lovely addition to your early Italian gilt bronze or brass, French moulu or pomponne clock and candlesticks set, candelabras, or objects de virtue. If you collect only the best like I do you will not want to miss out on this! I have never found one like this.(see pictures; very nice!). You will be able to tell right away just how very antiquated this is. Just a lovely unique piece! Would make a lovely addition to any Early American Colonial home, Victorian, William and Mary, or Rococo decor. Piece will not arrive broken. Please ask any questions before bidding as item is not returnable. Thanks!
