This is a lovely authentic Victorian Pickle castor that was made in the late 1800's by the Homan silver company out of  Columbus, Ohio.  This set is just beautiful, and so detailed with Victorian style.  The glass insert is a bright pattern design and is in excellent condition.  The lid and handle have delicate and ornate Victorian filigree and floral designs.  Along the side of the castor there hangs a pickle tong.  The castor stands at about 10.5 inches in height and is about four inches in diameter at the widest portion of the base.  The silver plate stand is just wonderful with so much detail, and jar fits perfectly into the basket of the stand, and the lid fits firmly on the glass.   The silver plate has a soft patina that comes from age and as we state in all our auctions, we do refrain from polishing the silver or plate since many buyers prefer the antique look. 

The set is clearly hallmarked on the bottom with the Homan logo and production numbers. 

This pickle castor would certainly compliment any home decor and add to your pickel castor collection. 

This antique came out of my Aunt's estate on Nantucket.  My Aunt was a nurse in WW1 stationed in France and then spent years as an artist and antiquarian traveling the world.  She loved antiques and taking care of them.  Please view my other items as we are selling her home belongings over the coming year and she has some exquisite pieces.  I hope this goes to a nice home that loves antiques or coins as much as she did.
