Description
This is an antique card from the Victorian trade card era. There was never any
advertising printed on it so the back of the card is blank. The tip of the left
hand corner is very barely attached. Please see scan for exact
condition.
About Trade Cards Trade Cards are small cards, usually about 5 inches tall by 3 inches
wide, that business people would hand out to potential clients to advertise
their services. They were first used in England at the beginning of the 1600s.
The tradition was to print the company's business information on one side and a
pretty picture on the other so that women would hang on to them. By the 1800s
(The Victorian Era), the picture designs had become so ornate and colorful that
trade card collecting had become a popular hobby.
