This beautiful old brooch reminds me of nothing so much as the kiddy toy pinwheels we used to get at the park or zoo. The brooch is made of sterling silver and has two different cabochons of onyx (one larger inside, one smaller outside) on each arm of the pinwheel or cross. The dark stones are surrounded by flashy marcasite that brightens the piece tremendously. The brooch measures a little over two and one-half inches across both arms. The pinback has very slight wave, but fastens tightly in a C-clasp with a safety catch. Total weight of the brooch is about fifty-nine one-hundredths of a Troy ounce. Marks on the reverse of one arm include "925", a craftsman's mark "TH" and a logo that is a stylized capital "G" in the shape of a brilliant cut diamond.
