Victory Gardens were private gardens grown during World War I and World War II to reduce the pressure on the public food supply. This video was used by the government to promote victory gardens as a vital form of civil defense and a strong contribution to the war effort. But, fortunately, the film is less about propaganda and more about nifty vintage farming and gardening techniques. The classic homemade pesticides recommended by the film are fascinating! Victory Garden's is a beautiful World War II video relic that's full of folksy living and antiquated food production from nearly a century ago.
