After 5+ years of owning the arcade I used to hang out in while I was in High School, I've finally decided to sell it and go back to school. My original plan was to teach at the university level and I think it's time I get my PhD and get to work!
The real estate is not included in the auction, but my lease runs through March 2009 and includes a clause where I can buy the property "at the current market value." When I talked to the landlord about it last, they wanted around $100,000 for the place.
If you look at a lot of arcades that have been around a while, they tend to have the games they started with and rarely change. I've tried to keep my games rotated and fresh. While the video games I have are a bit old, the reason that they're here is they out-earned anything newer I brought in. I've tried to keep on top of the market and only keep the games my customers want to play.
I am willing to stay on for a few months in an advisory/consulting capacity and to help train you in the minor repairs that you have to do in an arcade. I can also recommend a friend of mine who does training to train you and your staff in operations and minor game repair if you feel that is necessary. Additionally, I have the original files of various articles I have written for RePlay Magazine for the last couple of years.
All of the games in the list are in the arcade. They work, they make money, they're reliable.
Also included are all the prizes, prize counters, and shelving in the store room and in the redemption area.
We've got a 4-camera security system that lets us monitor everything from behind the redemption counter (which allows you to run the whole place with 1 person most of the time), a cash register, an ATM (about 2 years old), and a 3-sided Ticket Station (counter) by Benchmark (1 year old).
The party area has 2 tables and 20 chairs. There are also a couple of heavy-duty stools in the arcade.
We installed some Xlerator hand dryers by Excel in the bathrooms last year. These thing work great, unlike 99% of the hand dryers you've ever tried to use.

A quick note about the games: We are gearing up for the summer right now and will be selling some of our lower-performing games. We will be replacing them with new, top-earning games. The number of games in the arcade will decrease, but the earnings will go up. So will the value of the games. Pretty much, the games that are just acting as filler right now will all be gone by the 24th and the new games will be moved in by the first of June.
Non-game equipment/fixtures:
ATM (by Triton)
Token Machines (2 Standard Changer high-capacity changers updated to take all new bills (1s, 5s, 10s, &20s))
Ticket Station (3-sided by Benchmark0
Glass Counters (3 with 4-tiers each)
Cash Register (by Royal)
Security System (monitored by ADT)
CC Camera System (by Clover)
Miscellaneous shelving and pegboard both in the store-room and behind the redemption counter
Miscellaneous spare parts
Redemption tickets (as of today, 6 unopened cases)
Lots and lots of prizes
We repainted the building and had new graphics painted on it last Fall (October/November 2007).
If you don't want to continue at this location, you're welcome to pack it all up and ship it to whever you want to.
Buyer is responsible for all applicable taxes, fees, closing costs, etc.
What is not included: There is a pair of Cruis'n World driving games and a Treasure Chest crane that do not belong to me. The vendor who owns them may want to remove them or sign a new contract if the arcade changes hands. Also, I just sold the Confidential Mission that you see next to the Time Crisis II in the pictures...
I am here most days starting at 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM (CST). Feel free to call or come by and visit us at 4033 N 1st St Abilene, TX 79603.
Thanks,
Doug
PS I have no intention of closing the arcade. If I cannot sell it, I've already talked to one of my former managers about coming back and running it for me. I'd rather not have to deal with keeping the place, but see no value in selling off my top-earning games.
