Vint China Paint Glass Vials, Metal Box, Roman Gold

Offered for your consideration is a fascinating Vintage China Painting Glass Vials and Metal Art Box, Artist Paint Box and more.

Comes with all the tools you see pictured, a string wrapped brush and other items
(I kept all original items in the paint box together).

There is a box of Hasburg’s Phoenix Roman Gold Highest Award Worlds Fair St Louis 1904 F.W. Devoe & C.T. Raynolds Co. Artists Materials New York Chicago Kansas City, with many patent dates with the latest being 1915. (see close-up photo)
I do not know if this is still useable or not. I figured a china painter would know.

It looks like it is still sealed, never used. From what I read on the web this contains real gold and china painters of the day were very careful using it so as not to waste any of it.

I imagine with today’s gold prices the amount of gold contained in later products is much less than this old package.

Has a grooved tray that lifts out for additional storage of supplies underneath.

Grooved tray holds the 28 glass vials of paint shown marked Fry’s and F. Bischoff’s, different colors.
I would guess they are all still useable, none are cracked and all have original cork stoppers. All have original cork stopper and have dry pigment in them.

China painting was very popular in Victorian times.
Black enamel box measures approx 10 across by 8 1/2 tall by 2 1/2 deep.

Has a handle in front and a flip up latch with a place for a lock.

Lid holds tight but is missing it’s hinges.

Box came with the key you see pictured. (key says yale and towne, conn)

While in college I painted porcelain thimbles as a part time job.

I found this at an estate sale over 30 year ago
and always meant to use it and never got around to it.

I believe this is turn of the century or before but I really don’t know, some could be older?.

All items have wear consistent with age and use evident in the photos.

Will need to be cleaned dusted but I will leave that to the buyer.

Please be aware this is quite heavy to ship over 4 lbs.

I pack very carefully but insurance is required for shipment.
