Vintage 1910 wooden wheeled Racycle ( from Miami Cycle and Manufacturing,Middletown,Ohio patented 1910) This company manufactured bikes from 1894 to 1918.

Found in a barn in Northern California in the mid nineties and had restored and rebuilt by Bike shop manager. Wooden rims refinished and varnished with new spokes. Hubs, Bottom bracket and headset cleaned and new ball bearings installed. Frame and handlebars were powder coated the same color as the original. Hairpin seat is probably original and in good shape. There is only one leathercovered wooden grip. Just retired and put on new tires/tubes and went for ride. Big skip tooth chainring probably means race/track bike. I originally kept the bike because the headbadge indicated it was from my home state of Ohio. I don't know a whole lot about value other than it looked great.

 Q: How did you get those tires on there, can you ride it like that?
A: The tires are standard 700X28c. The wooden rims have a rolled steel base to which the clincher tires roll onto. My 200lb body has been all over the neighborhood. I would probably put some new grips on the bars though! Mike

A: Front chainring looks to be 10". It was blasted with walnut shells. It is in great shape...there is slight pitting bleeding through the paint in a few spots after 16 years. I went high on shipping as bicyles are ups... Continue reading
