Up for auction is a late 1940's or early 1950 Sears Roebuck Elgin mans 26" bicycle in original condition with what may be the original Gilette Bear tires. The two tone paint shines extremely well. The rims are painted white with red pin stripes and are in excellent condition as are the spokes. The back hub has some oil on it, but the chrome is excellent. I will clean it this week. The original cloth based leatherette saddle is in very good shape except for a rub mark on the one side. See picture. The paint has some chips and rubs from slight use over 60 or so years. Paint under fenders is remarkably clean. Chrome overall is excellent for any vintage bike. There is a dent on the edge of the rear fender bottom. Delta lamp was dented and has hole on top that can be repaired and painted easily. Torpedo grips are nice and big bars are in good shape too. Elgin was one of the most expensive bikes in the 1930's and Sears continued the name after World War 2. Only thing this bike will need is new tires in the interest of safety. I am offering local pick up on this bike , as I am not equipped to pack and mail something this big. I accept Pay Pal at this time only. Please see my other listings for a Columbia Superb, and restorable J C Higgins Color Flow.
