Vintage Early 1960s Deluxe Reading Penny Brite Doll
with Original Dress and Kitchen Dinette Dress

Here is a cute Penny Brite vinyl doll with two original dresses. She has rooted hair and pretty painted features. Penny is marked on her back Deluxe Reading Corp., Elizabeth, N.J. Pat Pending and on the back of her head A 7 9 Deluxe Reading Corp. ©1963. Because of the patent pending mark, I believe she is among the earlier Penny Brite dolls. She is in very good, played-with condition. All fingers and toes are present and she has no chew marks, stains or seam splits.

She comes with her signature red and white smocked dress PLUS a hard-to-find red and white cotton gingham checked dress that is part of the Penny Brite Kitchen Dinette outfit. This dress also fits the small American Character Betsy McCall doll, as the two dolls are much the same size. Both dresses are in very good, played-with condition and they close with snaps.

Because I am not the original owner, I cannot guarantee that Penny has never smoked, owned a pet or eaten peanut butter, but my nose is pretty good and I don't detect any bad smells.
