Vintage 1960's Gibson J-200 (Super Jumbo)!

The King of the Flattops!

Overall this big old Gibby is in very good condition. I had my luthier go over it and he glued and clamped the crack on the top as far down inside the guitar as he could reach (due to the internal bracing). The last inch or so is unclamped, but that should not be an issue. The finish, Grover tuners, pickguard, and truss rod cover all appear to be original. I can't tell about the frets, but they may be original, too. The finish is very heavily weather-checked (finish cracks) all over the guitar, no areas are unaffected. This gives the guitar a fabulous antique look, a beautiful patina. There are lots of small nicks, dings, crunches, etc., mainly on the sides, but a few are on the top, most notably on the lower treble bout. The back of the guitar is remarkably clean, just a few very small dings, and the back of the neck has a few very shallow marks, none affecting playability. The rosewood fingerboard is in outstanding condition, no grooving or pitting present, and the frets are also in great shape with lots of life left in them. The guitar is set-up with a medium-low action and plays well, producing a sweet, full sound with tremendous subtleties apparent, not a boomer like an older J-45. It comes well-protected in a newer Gator hardshell case.
