Vintage 1960"s Kent Polaris (?) electric guitar, solid body. Very Good condition, no serious damage but needing a few parts. I am not an expert on vintage guitars, but this appears to be the same type guitar as used by Bruce Springsteen in an early photo with The Castiles; and similar in ways to a Polaris II recently listed but having oval pickups. Reportedly the first guitar the Boss ever owned was a Kent Polaris, so if you have never bought a guitar before then destiny might be calling you. Needing some restoration but ideal for such especially for someone just getting into vintage guitars, because when you are done you will have something worth the effort, but if you don't do a perfect job then you don't need to cry over it. This guitar came from a collector/restorer who cannibalized it for parts many years ago, but fortunately didn't remove too much. Before I cleaned it myself some, there were pencil notations that the pickups were good, but that the switches might not be. There are just a few scratches to the metal plate, but to make it look really nice you would have to grind it down just a touch. As you can see the bridge is incomplete, and although set up for a whammy bar none is included. Two pickups. The bottom one is undamaged, there is a small piece chipped out of the white plastic exterior of the top one HOWEVER I will include a virtually identical replacement Kent pickup, the only difference being that the pickup screws are slotted not Phillips head. The potentiometers (3) are in place but there are no knobs. The input jack is in place minus the nut. There is no bottom strap attachment. The top tuning peg and the gear mechanism are missing. The Kent logo plate is in place, but apparently there was another plate there but not anymore (there are two screw holes). There is no top plastic string guide. The neck is fairly well straight and the fretboard is in very good condition, not perfect but you would not need to re-fret or do anything much to it other than cleaning and polishing. If I were going to restore this guitar I would remove the neck and just clean and polish the top; the body could either be taken down to the wood and re-finished for a really showy job, but if you are finicky about original finish, it is not beyond refurbishment of what is present. My webcam either does or does not do great and the photos shown here are adequate but I have taken better ones. Nice example of a well crafted guitar showing quality workmanship and appreciation of the beauty of wood.
