This a an original made in England Scalextric Set CM 4 from the early 60's. It is the Competition Car Series with Lights. Cars with head and tail lights and track and pit lights. I bought this years ago from a hobby distributor in Chicago who had a couple of these old sets collecting dust in his warehouse. I in turn stored it away but my kids when they were little, found their way into my storage area and opened this box, played with the cars and did some minor damage to them. The braids are missing from the Lister Jaguars #8 and #16 as are the front grills. The box was also torn at the corners and the original power supply was broken. I replaced the original with a Marchan power supply and in the process I mis-placed the broken original one. The set was exposed to damp conditions at the hobby distributors warehouse and there are signs of lingering light mold specks on some of the track pieces and on the car bodies, mainly inside the chassis area. There is visible rusting on the rear axle of the Cooper and some oxidation on the track rails. The tires on the Cooper are cracked from age but are intact. Now for the good stuff: the cars all power up, the original rubber track is still quite usable with no significant shrinkage, the original paper work, all marked printed in England is is good condition, the track lights and pit lights have never been removed from the box and the original glass vial of Shell lubricating oil for Scalextric cars is sealed and has oil in it, the controllers have never been used save once when one of them was hooked up to the new power supply for electrical testing of the cars. On the box are the words Made In England By Minimodels LTD Havant - Hants - England. There are 6 extra curve tracks I picked up when I bought this set as well as the Cooper car, which I bought a pair of but lost 1 somewhere down the road. This set is a nice find for a slot car enthusiast and is a very cool slice of slot car history.
