My favorite recent find (and
trust me, I've been finding some amazing stuff), a vintage high school
athletic jacket from 1936 from Cony High School.
Cony High School is the school
for Augusta, Maine (our capitol). Some members of the class of 1939
apparently just had their 70th reunion.
This is made of a maroon cotton
wide wale corduroy, with cream chain stitching - "Patten"
on one side and "'36" on the other. The back has a large maroon/white
felt patch, embroidered with the Cony logo (and you can see from the
interior that the logo was embroidered onto the coat).
This closes with caramel brown
marbized buttons - perhaps bakelite - with matching buttons at the cuffs.
And there are silver buckles on either side of the waist.
The jacket is not lined. Although
the color appears mottled in the photo, it is looks fine under regular
lighting conditions.
