Vintage 40s BOMBSHELL WOOL PLAID Peplum Dress Suit L

@Jumblelaya: a FABULOUSLY FEMININE ca. 1940s dress suit.

This suit, while beautiful, has some minor quirks and issues that are detailed below, and it needs a cleaning (estate fresh). The overall look is so hot and the size so wearable that I think it will find a great home with a vintage fashionista or someone interested in restoration.

Details include:

~Label is Forstmann, a fine name for woolen goods
~100% virgin wool in a soft dove grey with cream plaid, lined jacket and the seat of skirt with matching grey crepe
~Curvy seaming
~Peplum
~Shoulder pads
~Bust flap detail
~Slim sheath skirt with hidden side metal zipper
~Sexy!

Measurements -
About a modern Large but please look at measurements for best fit.

Bust (underarm area, measured spread flat then doubled): to 44".
Waist of jacket: 30"

Waist of skirt: snug 30" (waist tab has room to move and gain a bit more room here).
Hips: 40".
Length of jacket, center of back collar to hem: 22".
Length of skirt: 28" and has 4" additional hem allowance.
Shoulders, from edge of shoulder pad to edge: about 17".
Sleeves, shoulder to cuff: 20 1/2".

Please note: these are the measurements of the dress itself, taken flat with a flexible measuring tape and then doubled.
You MUST be smaller than the dress's measurements and allow room for give and the kind of fit you desire.
We do not allow returns and/or refunds based on fit.

Condition -

This 50+ year old vintage suit is in Good, Wearable condition with small issues.

Presents beautifully, very wearable. This set is fresh out of an estate and needs cleaning: I can vaguely make out very faint soiling here and there on the creamy parts of the plaid, and the lining has light soiling. There are tiny moth holes here and there, and a bit of wear on the buttons -- see images. None of the moth bites show through to skin and they do not jump out at you on casual observation. The tab of the skirt waist has two shredded areas (see photo). Overall the suit presents well and is very photogenic, but it does have the minor issues shown/described, and is being sold As-Is. It would be great for a non-picky vintage wearer, for stage or study, or for restoration -- if perfect, it would retail for $250 in one of our two online stores!
